On 4 May, News Media Europe hosted a webinar on state aid for news media in European Member States and published a comparative document that gives an overview of the different measures taken by European governments in support of news media.

State aid tools play a key role in the media systems of many European countries. As policy makers across the continent examine options on how best to support a vibrant and pluralistic information landscape to respond to rapidly evolving industry conditions, many countries have recently reformed relevant laws or are considering doing so.

The webinar explored some of the key findings and recent policy developments in this field in search of trends, best practice and recurrent themes to inform relevant debates. The slides of the webinar can be found here.
